Adobe needed to demonstrate Photoshop’s brush tools in a way that was visually engaging and easy to understand for a younger, creative audience. The challenge was balancing technical clarity (showing brush features like size, opacity, hardness, smoothing, and flow) with dynamic, eye-catching visuals that wouldn’t feel like dry software documentation.
Concept
I developed a skater-inspired, art-school aesthetic where brush strokes literally interacted with a skateboarder mid-trick. This juxtaposition of real action photography with digital brush strokes created a playful, high-energy narrative that visually matched the creative freedom Photoshop offers. The skateboarder became a canvas for demonstrating brush properties in motion.
Solution
• Designed motion and static assets where brush strokes wrapped around, erased, and highlighted the skateboarder. • Used bold primary blue strokes to clearly showcase brush dynamics (opacity, hardness, smoothing, angle, flow). • Integrated layered text and UI overlays to highlight key Photoshop features without losing visual impact. • Delivered a series of modular assets that could work as social carousels, in-product tutorials, or educational content.
Outcome
• Successfully delivered a set of assets that made Photoshop’s brush tools feel accessible, fun, and inspiring rather than technical. • Reinforced Adobe’s positioning of Photoshop as both a professional tool and a playground for creativity. • Elevated product education into a visually dynamic story, driving both engagement and feature awareness.
